Newbridge Primary Care Centre is located on Station Road in Newbridge on lands adjacent to St. Conleth’s Community College. This mixed-use development contains a number of different tenants both from the Medical and Education sectors.
The accommodation comprises of a Primary Care Medical Centre at ground floor along with a Pharmacy and Open Plan Office accommodation. The first floor contains medical suites, treatment rooms and office accommodation and the third floor contains an Adult Education Centre along with a roof terrace.
The building addresses the street with a facade of separate bays addressing the different uses facing on to a landscaped forecourt. In a development of this scale with surrounding residential properties it was an important concern that in order to reduce the scale of the building the front elevation would need to be ‘fractured’ or broken using several different volumes within the overall scheme. The second floor is also recessed back in order to reduce the scale.
Materials include fibre cement panels, limestone cladding, patinated copper and painted nap plaster. The Aluminium windows are divided with brightly coloured spandrel panels and brise soliel fins are employed to provide solar shading. The main entrance is afforded hierarchy by the use of an aluminium red vertical fin set into a glazed curtain wall.
The Primary Care Centre is a dynamic and modern addition to the streetscape of Newbridge Town.
