Bank of Ireland in continuing the expansion of their Branch Network acquired a facility at No. 2 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2.  The facility is adjacent to the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre and in the heartland of the area known as “Silicon Docks”.  Rather than develop the facility as a standard Bank Branch, the Bank wanted to prove a non-counter transaction branch and use the area and provide Permier Banking areas along with space for connecting entrepreneurs, bank staff and community.  In addition a large self-service/express banking area is provided.

MCOH Architects collaborated with Branding Agency – Alan International and Bank of Ireland Architects to provide a 420m² facility, which contains an entrance zone with digital display and interactive services.  Adjacent to this is a workbench area, providing free dedicated space for customers for co-working and presentation area.  The central space is a multi-use are capable of hosting seminars, clinics and events.  To the rear of the facility  a Premier Banking area with lounge, Premier Consultancy Suites and Hospitality Area.  The remaining areas are dedicated to Self-Service Banking, Interview Booths and Phone/Internet Banking Booths.

Finishes are contemporary in nature and feel, with exposed ceiling services, vinyl and carpet flooring, exposed concrete, brickwork and rustic oak wall finishes, ceiling raft features, frameless glazing and contemporary graphic content and branding.

The completed refurbishment has been well received by the Bank’s customers and staff alike and has proven to be a commercial success for the Bank of Ireland.
